Description: Class II, Distorted Hub Doubling
A nice Class II spread toward the center shows on FIVE CENTS and MO...CELLO, increasing slightly from left to right.  Coin examined was LDS.  Doubling on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was hard to see.

  • Rev:  Die dot above right porch; die dot in upper portion of left arch; diagonal die gouge in upper portion of B of PLURIBUS.

Close Class II doubling shows on BUS of PLURIBUS, UNUM and AMERICA, and slightly on CENTS and the second O of MONTICELLO.

Class II doubling shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM, increasing from left to right.  Tripling shows on UNUM.  Slight doubling shows on AMERICA and CENTS.

  • Rev:  Series of die scratches in left arch, below M of UNUM, and second O of MONTICELLO; series of die scratches through NIT of UNITED.

A strong quadrupled spread toward the center shows on the lower portion of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FIVE CENTS and slightly on UNUM.  Doubling also shows on MONTICELLO and E PLURIBUS.

Markers: 

  • Obv:  Die scratch NE through E of LIBERTY.
  • Rev:  Horizontal die scratch connecting center portion of E and P of E PLURIBUS; two NE parallel die scratches in upper portion of M of UNUM.
