Description: Class IV, Offset Hub Doubling "Best Of" Nickel Doubled Die Varieties
Strong doubling shows on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the star, the date, Jeffersons chin, the underside of the nose and lips, and some hair over his ear. The doubling is from an offset hubbing with the later (stronger) image spread to the north on all the affected design.
Markers:
- Obv: Die dot east of Jefferson's eye just before his hairline. The early die state is sharp and clear. Later die state specimens exist which were heavily polished giving a mushy appearance to the surface and doubling.
