Description: Class V, Pivoted Hub Doubling
Nice Class V doubling shows on LIBERTY, the star, the date, IN GOD, and the lower portion of Jefferson's queue.

Markers: 

  • Obv:  Short die gouge near rim to right of lower portion of Jefferson's queue.
  • Rev:  Slanted die scratch from beneath the crossbar of first T of STATES to A of STATES; die scratch near rim to right of F of OF.

Description: Class II, Distorted Hub Doubling
Class II doubling shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, increasing from left to right.  Doubling shows nicely on AMERICA.  Extremely close doubling shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM.

  • Rev:  Slanted die scratch below right leg of M of UNUM; die scratches in and above right arch.

1970-S WDDO-001 Proof

Description: Class II + V, Distorted and Pivoted Hub Doubling
A nice spread toward the center shows on IN GOD WE TRUST increasing from left to right.  A slight CCW spread shows on IN GOD, the bottom of the coat and the designer’s initials from a pivot at approximately 1 o’clock.

Markers: 

  • Obv:  Slightly slanted die gouge between bottom back of coat and queue; short vertical die scratch on back of neck.
  • Rev:  Die gouge to upper left of first U of PLURIBUS; two die gouges to upper left of E of E PLURIBUS.
