Description: Class II, Distorted Hub Doubling
A nice spread toward the center shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.  A closer spread shows on FIVE CENTS and ELLO of MONTICELLO.  All spreads increase from left to right. 

Markers: 

  • Obv:  Short die gouge east from tip of 5 of date; die gouge (dot) on top of head at 1 o’clock.
  • Rev:  Die gouge (dot) on center steps directly above I of MONTICELLO; die gouge (dot) above small left window.
